Dr. Reed: The Leader of the Scientists
The leader of the scientists, Dr. Reed, is in his late 40s and discovered that the supernova explosion was heading toward Earth. However, he worked alongside the government to keep that information quiet from Americans until right before the blast hit. He was protected in a bunker from the supernova's harmful radiation, which mutated the genes of those who survived. This is why he and the other scientists do not have any supernatural abilities. As a result, they are terrified of the others who live, as they want to create a world where the scientists rule and not a bunch of freaks with powers. Therefore, Dr. Reed decides to make a camp that tortures children, as they are the primary survivors, and ensures they do as he pleases. He sends the other scientists to do the same, creating their own camps.
Dr. Reed is cold, calculating, cruel, and power-hungry. He doesn't even love his own family. Instead, he sees them as things to be used to his advantage.
